Mercer Arboretum

It's kind of a gray day today, interspersed with bright sunshine - you know: one of those "can't make up its mind" kind of days. Mr. Sweetie Pie and I decided it would be a good time to go and take a little stroll outside.

We haven't visited our local botanical gardens in quite a while, so off we went.

There were not many people there, so it was quite pleasant to walk around and see the changes that have been made since we were there last.

Their growing area is full-to-bursting with new plantings getting themselves grown enough to join the established ones growing out in the public areas.
This part was not accessible to us. We could only peek in through the fence.
I love the verse on this sundial:
The kiss of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth;
One is nearer God's heart in a garden,
Than anywhere else on earth.

Believe it or not, there is actually a very small maze in there! Who knew that yew trees would grow here? True, it IS a Southern Yew, but it's still a yew.

And how do you like this bird house? The roofs are copper. Quite a mansion, isn't it?

There are all sorts of walks and paths

with plenty of places to stop, sit and enjoy the view. This mosaic is in the center of the floor of the little "rest stop" above.

And they're working on several new features. This is a wall of water. Won't that be refreshing in the summertime!
Hope you've enjoyed your day.
Hugs and kisses,

Same sort of day here it snowed in the highlands of Victoria over night , this time last week we were roasting. Thanks for the wander through your Botanical Garden. We always have a walk through the Botanical Gardens where ever we visit.

It is exciting to be reminded of spring to come thinking about garden paths and the promise of spring.

What a lovely place to go, Elaine. We are getting a lot of rain this week...very unusual for here. I am redoing the landscape of this place and learning a new set of plants. We are going tropical with palm trees. Thanks for including us in your walk, it was nice to see.
