My New Baby Has a New Home

Remember a little earlier when my sweet neighbor gave me this old sewing machine cabinet? Well, Mr. Cutie Pie has been painting it and painting it.

Today I had enough of waiting for it to reach his standard of perfection, so I put my little machine into it. And yes, Chloe did have to supervise.
Doesn't it look happy! I'm happy. I've moved it into the dining room where I have some progress laid out on the dining table. I've started sewing the blocks together and I thought it would be easier not to have to walk from room to room to get it done.

Of course there's also something to be said for the fact that there's less distance between table and sewing machine so I'm less likely to mess it up. ;)

It is beastly hot outside, so it's a good time to stay inside and sew.

Hope you're doing something fun!

Can I Just Say........

Yum!

Yum!

YUM!!! You know I ate some of these before they even made it in the door, right? Yep, I sure did.

Hope there's some serious good things going on where you are!

Ah, fabric!

I looked up from my computer a little while ago, and I had a visitor. Sorry I couldn't get a better picture of him through the screen. Apparently there was some insect nearby that he was stalking.

The plants in our yard look like they're on steroids! Seriously, they have grown like crazy since we had the much-needed rain last week.

Look at these tomatoes!!! My mouth is watering already. I can hardly wait.

I have lots of fabric cut into squares and strips and I've made a start at sewing some of them together. I'm making a big quilt now for the couch in our den.
And here's some fabric that came in the mail yesterday for a project I have in mind for a little later. I got this from an ebay seller I've bought from many times, Jordan's. Her fabric is wonderful and she's got some nice ones on sale right now!
Got to get to work now. Have a wonderful day!!!

Another Baby Quilt

I finished this latest little baby quilt last night. It's fresh from the washer and dryer and all crinkly and soft. Have I mentioned that I LOVE quilts?

Don't you love these flying cows on the back!

And the polka dot binding.

And how about the bandana fabric and sock monkeys? There's just a lot to like, I think, for a little boy soon to be born in Texas. Our friend Brigit and her family will be welcoming him into their family sometime next month, and we just wanted to have a part in it!

Hope you have some special yummy-ness going on where you are!

Refashioning - T-Shirts into Dress

I have been doing a little sewing, but I tend to get distracted (read easily bored) with just one project and so I go off and do others. I know that I am not alone in this, because I read your blogs, too. ;) I've had this idea in my head for a while now to combine two tee shirts into a dress, so I went for it. I don't think I did the most wonderful job in the world, but it IS extremely comfortable, and that's what I wanted.
I cut the top part off a second, larger tee and machine sewed the bottom part to the top of a tee that fits me.

After re-engineering the neckline I added flower cut-outs here and there (partly to cover some stains). I used the machine blanket stitch to attach them, and I think it looks pretty good. Thank you, Janome!

Here's another little thing that caught my eye. I've had these kaleidoscope blocks ready to be sewn for quite a while. Now there are two of them sewn together. I do have a nice little pile of the half square triangles sewn together, pressed and tails clipped.

and another nice little pile ready to be pressed and clipped.
And look what I just brought in from the garden - a little handful of borlotto solista green beans! I'll incorporate them into lunch. I LOVE our garden!
We're having hot dry weather here (Except for the humidity of course. That's pretty much a year around thing in Houston.), so I've been doing a lot of watering. We have a chance for rain this weekend, so here's hoping!
I hope your days are filled with LOTS of things that make you happy!

Am I Sewing Yet?

I'm just about to start sewing again.

Really.

I'm pretty sure, most any time now.

I'm almost ready to start.

You do believe me, don't you?
I know, I'm silly sometimes.

Bath-Taking in Muddle Land

It is marvelously cool (78F at noon!) here today for a change. Heavenly. Mr. Sweetie and I were outside just enjoying the day. So were the chickens.

I know the yard is a mess, but it is just SO much fun to watch the chickens doing their little chicken thing that I don't even care.

The figs are growing and filling out nicely on the fig trees,

the flowers on the patio look happy,

sunflower seeds the birds dropped have sprouted and are blooming,

nasturtiums are so bright you almost need sunglasses to look at them.
And here is something that is really making me happy. My neighbor gave me an old sewing machine cabinet she has had for a long time.
And Mr. Sweetie Pie and Daughter's Boyfriend have engineered it for me today.
Now my sweet little Janome will have a nice, level place to sit and sew and sew and sew.
I just have to get it painted. Yippee!!!
I hope there's something that's making you extremely happy today!

Who's The Boss Here?

There Miss Chloe sits - as usual she is supervising each and every thing I do! You should have seen her earlier today. I got a new phone and loaded some music on it. I was enjoying the music, but Chloe did NOT like it at all. I had to rescue the phone. She was biting it!

I've started another little quilt - this one for a baby scheduled to make his appearance next month. Does it look like I have cats on the brain?

Nah.....there are monkeys in there, too.

And of course, there's Bruno - my faithful friend. He's keeping watch out the front door here. You can never tell but what some villain might decide to make the foolish mistake of coming to the door. If one were so foolish - Bruno is ready!

I shopped in my stash and found lots of happy fabrics that seemed to be just the thing for a brand new little boy. I've got most of it cut out and have started sewing some little pinwheels to go with the little squares. I'm sort of making it up as I go. Here's hoping it turns out as pretty as I think it will!
Hope you're putting together something that will be perfect in your corner of the world.
Hugs and kisses,
