It's a Rainy Day

It's been raining.  A lot today, as you can see by the row of buckets almost full of rainwater outside my window.  I like to  use rainwater for my plants when I have it.  They seem to like it, which makes sense - no chlorine or other additives except what it picks up on the way down.

I keep hearing that old Sesame Street song going through my head, "It's a rainy day, it's a rainy day.  It's raining outside so I can't go out and play. Why do we need the rain anyway?"

After the drought we suffered last year - I don't mind the rain.  And I've been enjoying the sparrows frolicking around outside my window.  If you click on the picture above, you should be able to see there are several perched underneath the old wheelbarrow I'm using as a planter out there.  I know that a lot of people don't like sparrows.  I do.  Which is a good thing, because there are a lot of them!

There is, however, one less mouse in the world today.  And Chloe is so proud.  For such a dainty little cat, she is a coldblooded killer!

The fabric I ordered for the border of the little boy quilt came in the mail and it is now sewn on.  All I'm waiting for now is a name and I'll start quilting it.  I got some fabric scraps (I know.  I don't really need any more, but they sure are pretty.) from my sister-in-law.  They're washed and now I'll press them and try to get some tumblers (the big ones) cut from as many of the fabrics as I can.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hugs and kisses,

Love the view to your yard. I miss green after living in Florida and Washington State.
I don't mind so much when our Patch Cat gets a mouse but don't like for her to get little birds. I try to keep her inside but she is good at hiding and running out opened door.

I'm glad to see you are getting some rain. I hope they got some up by Dallas where my brother is too.

Chloe is too funny, standing there so proud!

You do appreciate the rain even more when you have experienced drought.
And I am very impressed with your cat!

Yeah! more tumblers. I sure am happy to read about the rain. We're not getting a darn drop over this way. :( It's nature. Just like it's Chloe's nature to be a cold-blooded killer which cracked me up. Oh my gosh you are so funny!!!

Yay for the rain! Hubby was just saying last night that someone reported that Texas was no longer in a drought. Yipee!

It is so good to get the rain, especially after this past harsh summer. I hope we continue getting moisture throughout this coming year. blessings,Kathleen

We could do with some rain here. The gardens are so dry.

Do you know how many years my kids and I (and my husband) have sung that song on rainy days? I guess it is part of our culture. I love that song.
