Strawberry Time

I mentioned earlier that I am working on a quilt to be sold at auction at our church next Sunday (Mother's Day) along with lots of other items to raise money for a trip the youth group is taking this summer.  The theme for the day is strawberries.  The items to be auctioned will be displayed at "The Strawberry Stand" set up in the lobby of the church.

I am using the above fabric as the center panel for the backing of the quilt I am donating. Appropriate, don't you think?

Now, I've got a week to get it loaded on the frame and quilted.  Can I do it?  Of course I can.

(I feel like the children's book, The Little Engine that Could:  "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can." )

I really like all these batiks.  The quilt top is all batik.  I hope it finishes up as well as I think it will, and that it makes a lot of money for them!  We'll see.

As I was putting this top together I kept on thinking about the ups and downs in life.  We all have them, and sometimes those lows can be pretty brutal.  But I started and ended this on an "UP" note.  That's what I prefer to think on - the good times and not the bad.  I always pray when I make my quilts.  I believe those prayers can be felt by those to whom the quilt goes.  And I'm believing that this quilt will be a real blessing to the purchaser of it.

I do hope you are having a truly wonderful day (or night as the case may be)!

Hugs and kisses,

The top is really pretty and I have no doubt you will have it done in time. I'm sure there will be a bidding war for it.

The top is really pretty. You'll make in time for the Strawberry Festival. I hope all goes well raising funds for the youth. How awesome that you pray while quilting. I'm sure the persons who get your quilts can feel the presence of the Lord. Good luck making the deadline for your quilt.

Wow, Elaine, you've been busy! Lovely quilt with the batiks and cute backing fabric. The batiks seem to give it more depth. Liked your sister's Christmas quilt too.
best, nadia
