Inspiration

Inspiration comes from so many places.  I will freely admit that I get a lot of inspiration from seeing what other talented quilters are making and sharing in blogland.  You frequently fan my smoldering embers to flame, and I thank you SO much for taking the time to share what you are doing.

I am also inspired by books.  I have several of the Kaffe Fassett books, including this one.  His artistry is always such a happy-maker to me.  Have you ever looked at something and liked it so much that your heart actually hurt?  It happens to me a lot.

You can see that I was inspired by the cover photo in the book above.  I did look at the pattern, but as soon as I read "paper piecing" my eyes glazed over and I closed the book and started making it up as I went along.  I'm bad about that.

As usual, I don't know what I'm doing, just muddling along and having a good time.  Sewing is frequently therapy for me, as I know it is for some of you.

Fortunately I do have helpers to advise me.  (My friend thinks they are just waiting for me to leave the room so they can rearrange what I've done so far.  She may be right!)

A little glimpse of what's going on out in the back yard.

This came inside with me to sit on the kitchen windowsill.  I need all the inspiration I can get to wash dishes!

This is a look at the shower in the hospital where Miss Ru was recently a patient.  (Yes, thank God!!! she is back home.)  I just thought this was such a neat idea.  The bench in the shower folds flat to the wall when not in use.
And then here it is, all secure and ready for a safe and secure shower.  I wish I could put one of these in my Mom's house!

It is such a pleasant day here - cool, but not cold and so far quiet except for the birds I can hear singing outside my sewing room window and the occasional murmuring of the chickens in their pen.

I hope you have a wonderful, productive and happy weekend!

Hugs and kisses,

This aspect of your quilting life makes for a fantastic post. I enjoy reading and seeing what makes your heart beat and I really admire how you make it happen. What completely cool blocks!!! Great fabrics and gosh figuring out block size is some work (at least it would be for me). New favorite quilt. Glad Miss Ru is home.

Really? That Kaffe quilt is paper pieced? What for? There aren't any difficult or odd angles -- I'm really surprised! Your version looks great -- as always Elaine!

This does look interesting. Love the way your quilt is coming together. Great to have inspiration from such talented people.
I want some of your warm weather. We flew in to NYC yesterday and it's cold. It tried to snow today!

Very interesting.. Love the quilt..Sometimes it's hard for me to follow the patterns.. I can find one in a magazine and pick up on it faster.. Like you, I just muddle through anything but the difference is yours always turns out so pretty.. Susie

Have a wonderful weekend! Your quilts are always so inspiring to me. I am lad Miss Ru is now home. Wishing her speedy recovery.

Thank you for your recent comment on my blog. It really made me happy. We try not to overload her with toys. We took her out for dinner, gave the flowers and threw her a birthday party. That was her gifts. It was funny when parents asked us what toys did we buy her? She got more than enough gifts from friends and family on her birthday.
