Some time back, my friend Wonky Girl (Deb) and I had a little email conversation about "strings" with the result being that I sent her an envelope with some of my overflow of said strings. (Don't ask. I have no clue how they keep multiplying. It seems that the more string quilts I make - the more strings I have left.)
Anyway, this week I got an envelope in the mail from Deb sending me these beautiful star blocks. Believe me, my mouth fell open. They are GORGEOUS! - each and every one. I immediately emailed to see if she'd lost her mind made a mistake and she assured me she had plenty more. O Happy Day!
The orange/yellow sashing fabric was a gift from my good friend and neighbor Sandy a while back. Is it not perfect?? I was just so excited about the whole thing I stayed up most of the night finishing sewing it all together.
Thank you so much Deb!! I will think of you each and every time I see this. Because you know it's staying here. And thank you, Sandy, for the perfect accompaniment!
Meanwhile, out in the back yard I put a little fence around the garden bed right outside the back door. This is to protect what is growing there from dogs and chickens. Today I put something someone else in there for protection, too. Can you see her?
How about now? Yes. That is Chloe. Young Lady has decided that Chloe is the perfect playmate for her. Chloe does not agree, but has not been able to convince Lady of that fact.
Hard to believe, isn't it, that she could ever do anything wrong? Look at that innocent little face. She is so much like a toddler human that it is just hilarious when it isn't making me crazy. (Those are two of her toys underneath her. She is very possessive.)
And here is another look at those glorious star blocks. I am just so in awe of people who can do things like this.
It has been lovely weather here all week. Our windows are open right now, though they'll be closing soon as it will be cold later tonight. I hope your week is going well and that there have been lovely surprises for you, too!

The star quilt is beautiful. You couldn't have found a better fabric than the orange for the sashing.
Windows open? That is only a dream for me.....
Oh my, you did a wonderful job choosing a sashing fabric for those stars! It really sets them off like they are sparkling. I'm so glad they are no longer languishing in a baggy ;-) My heart is happy!

And awwww, Lady has a little friend. Too bad Chloe's not participating -- that's so sad LOL!
And my week was full of fun surprises -- mostly, we finally got some decent snow this winter!!!

What a great quilt, love the story behind it because I know it will be forever treasured. Windows opened here too and sitting outside in the sun. We are in for some roller coaster weather tomorrow but at least it's warm.

Poor Chloe ... the only way she can get respite from Lady is in the garden? Awwwww.
