When I made the Strip Twist quilts there were quite a few "ends" of the strip sets that were not long enough to be used in the quilts. And you know I hate waste!
So, since the original strips were 2 1/2 inches, I cut the leftovers into 2 1/2 inch strips. I added two additional 2 1/2 inch squares to each strip set.
That made each strip 6 squares.
I sewed six of those together and now I have some 36-square blocks playing around on my design wall. There may be some chickens up there, too. ;)
Some leftover backing and batting turned into these mug rugs. Like I said, I hate waste! I can't say my sewing is excellent on these by any means, but they will be useful and I like them.
It's a gray, overcast day here, but we need some rain so that's a good thing.

great idea...I love using leftovers. I mean we did pay for the fabric, so I want to use it all. I have blocks and things that can be easily made into blocks in a growing box to make at least one old maid quilt.

I like to use up my scraps, too. Have you seen the itty bitty twister? It uses 2 1/2 inch blocks. I love everything you do!
There is nothing like a happy quilter. Visiting you makes me want to throw "tired" to the wayside and quilt! BTW, mug rugs are very cool.
I have scraps that I plan to oneday put to good use! You inspire me.

Although I'm not a quilter, I love quilts of all kinds. I treasure the ones my MIL made for us. Your quilts are so beautiful - as are the mug rugs.
