Have you noticed that I LOVE making quilts? I'm not saying that I do a wonderful, perfect job of it, because I certainly don't! But I do have a lot of fun with it, and that's what it's all about, isn't it? I read the most liberating thing the other day about quilts, "Better finished than perfect". Isn't that great!!
Anyway, I like choosing the fabrics and the design, starting the sewing together of the pieces, the pressing.
Then when the top is done, I like choosing the backing and pinning it all together with its batting filling.
Now comes the part I'm still having major grief with - quilting it on my sewing machine. Oh well, I'm getting better. :)
I had leftover squares this time around so I made a table runner for the dining table (finally!!).
The chickens seem to be happy with it.If you look closely you can see Bruno on duty through the chair at the end of the table. Wherever I am - he is! I like that.
And by the way, what is up with this? I had actually sewn a piece of this into my quilt top before I realized there were little swastikas all over the design! No thank you. I do not want anything of that sort anywhere near me! I'm really disappointed that MODA would put something like this in one of their collections.
Have a great day!
Hugs and kisses,

Super cute, easy and done!
Hmmm. That's weird. I would have never noticed that, if you hadn't mentioned it. I don't think Moda even gave that a thought. It's always been very annoying to me that Hitler adopted the swastika -- it belonged to many other civilizations before he used it, and it was a really good symbol. Wikipedia has an interesting history that tells all about it.
Neato Demo!! Thanks Elaine!!!
Great quilt! And I like the table runner. It's great that you enjoy making quilts. It has to be enjoyable to make it worth while.
I love making quilts too!!! I totally understand that love for it. I really liked the table runner you made with the left over bits. I am in the middle of making a table runner - must finish it off.
Elaine, great quilt and a table runner. I am with you ...it is not about who is the best quilter, but if we have fun making a quilt. I love the pattern you used, my style of quilting...fast and easy, but pretty.
Elaine, I love how you can quilt and not obsess; that is a good lesson for me. I would finish more quilts and get better with all the practice. Thanks for the inspiration you've been to me. About Moda and the swastika, probably didn't enter their minds that what it looked like. I do not like what that symbol has come to mean and I usually stay away from anything that resembles it. There are some block patterns that look like it and I avoid them too. I totally understand.
Hi Elaine,
I love making quilts too, your quilt and table runner turned out so nice. I've just started machine quilting and I think it does take some practice.
Thanks for visiting,
xo Shawn
the quilt and runner are so lovely!!
Your quilts are always lovely , that because you put a lot of yourself into making them.
