Family Time

Our daughter Mary and her boyfriend are visiting from New York State. It is so good to see them both again!  I made this quilt for Mary for Christmas. Blue is her favorite color. This one is made with flannel on the front and fleece on the back with batting in the middle, so a warm quilt. I chose to use a flannel binding, too, which was not my brightest moment. Let's just say it was more of a challenge than I bargained for to get it all put together! But it was worth it to see her face.

Of course I had to make a quilt for Matt, too.
Here you can see a bit of the fleece backing. I used the same fleece fabric on both quilts. Matt and Mary drove down and will be headed back in a couple of days.

Hopefully, all this snow and ice business will be cleared up by then and they won't have any problems getting back!  I know this looks like such a small amount to those of you who deal with this stuff for months on end, but down here in Texas, we just are not accustomed to it! Seriously, people drive crazy on ice.

Our son and his darling wife found this great metal art rooster for us for Christmas. I thought it would be funny to put it at the back door, and sure enough - it was. The chickens all gathered like they were waiting for him to either come out and play or maybe give them orders! Chickens are endlessly amusing.

I am seriously ready for Spring! However, I'm also seriously thankful for a safe, warm house!  Hope your weather is cooperating.

Hugs and kisses,

Lovely to have family visiting.
I think the blue quilt for your daughter is gorgeous. They are lovely fabrics and work wonderfully in that design. That one is a winner. And how good of you to make one for her boyfriend as well. That is a great setting as well.
I had a good laugh at the photo of your chickens.
Yes, I can imagine the crazy weather has brought out the worst in a lot of drivers. Hope it clears up soon for you.

I thought of you when I saw the weather map with all of the areas covered by snow and ice. By the way people have a hard time driving on ice here too. Luckily we have the road equipment to clear the roads fairly quickly.

Honestly, your rooster share gave me a hearty laugh, Elaine! Your quilts are beautiful as always, they will appreciate them on the drive home to cold New York, too. Hugs, pokey❤️

So nice to have your family and I know you're enjoying every minute. The quilts are beautiful and I know they were so overjoyed to see them. Love your rooster and how the hens want him to come and play. I figured you got some bad weather as well. It's been a rougher winter than we've had in years. It was 12 degrees this morning with an inch of snow and ice on the ground. Suppose to be in the single digits tonight. Like you I'm waiting patiently for spring but thankful for a warm home. Lots of love and Blessings.

So nice to have family visit. Their quilts are wonderful. Hope the winter weather goes away soon. We got several inches of snow today.
LOVED the story and picture of the metal rooster! That was just toooo funny. My brother also had a good laugh. Chickens are funny, very entertaining.
Stay warm.

Ice snow and here we are with days of 106.3 but I wouldn't swap Summer for Winter any day. Our family were all together for Christmas also.

Oh dear -- I'm so late with my blog reading! I'm hoping you've warmed back up to your normal winter temps by now. These two quilts are wonderful - as always. I would LOVE flannel, batting and fleece -- sounds like the perfect, cozy winter quilt!
