Can Spring Be Far Behind?

At least that's what I'm hoping.  We are beginning to see some of the early bloomers showing off out in the back yard.  It is so nice to see some color showing up out there!

The center photo on the bottom is one of our lemons and some of our eggs in a wire basket.  I wrapped each lemon that I wanted to save from our tree individually in newspaper and packed them carefully in a cooler with newspaper between the layers, and surprisingly most of them survived for about two and a half months.  There are still a couple dozen waiting to be used.  Treasure!

Ruthie's parakeet, Pete, is mighty happy to be getting to spend time out on the patio again.  He does so love gossiping with the outdoor birds. It is really funny hearing them chatter back and forth.  There is a bird feeder just outside the patio and that attracts lots of visitors for him.

And... I have all the rows sewn on this one. Now I'm adding the setting triangles and sewing the rows together.  It's going to be a big one, so it's taking longer than usual. It's been a fun one to make and I think will be a striking finished quilt.  We'll see!

We had really warm temperatures here all week, but it's back to being a little cooler now.  Not bad at all and certainly nothing like the cold a lot of you have had to endure this year.  Our younger daughter in New York State has had quite enough of winter by now, and I don't blame her a bit.  I'm thankful to live here where it does not get so cold.  We won't talk about how hot it gets. ;)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs and kisses,

Blooms already? We are going back into the deep freeze middle of next week, below 0 some nights. I hope it doesn't hit you too.

Love the quilt!!!

Pretty blooms! My daffodils and tulips have just broken ground! Cute little bird and such a lovely quilt. By the way, my youngest son is in Mechanicsville N.Y, finishing up his last part of Navy training. It has been very cold there. In just a month he will be stationed in Hawaii. My husband is on his way to Houston this Sunday for training on his job. Wish I could go to so that I could say hello to you.......but no spouse travel supplied. LOL

Beautiful quilt. We dont have pretty blooms like yours yet! Our bird, Cookie, is a cocktail and we have had him for 30 years. He loves to sit out on the porch as well. We have a cold front moving in on us as well.

I don't suppose there's any place where there isn't something to grumble about, weatherwise, at some point in the year. ;-) Maybe that's why so many retirees are snowbirds. ;-)

Your circle quilt is amazing. The batiks are wonderful.
I'm worried about early bloomers here in SE AZ. We usually end up getting a very hard freeze in April.
But, your early bloomers are so pretty. I may just put some pansies in a pot that can be sat inside if it gets cold again.

I will enjoy the thought of spring that you have inspired! There's no sign of it here, but I shall enjoy the thought anyway. And to enjoy homegrown lemons...how lovely and amazing!

You need to work a plan with your daughter -- winters at your place, summers at hers. That quilt is already striking -- it will be fun to see it all put together!

My goodness. This one will be stunning!
Blowing snow possibly here tomorrow morning. Felt like spring for a few days so tomorrow will remind us that winter isn't over.
