I finally got the binding finished on this log cabin quilt I made for my chair in the den. Mr. Muddling gave me that chair for a birthday present. And it's red.
I had the bright idea that one of those rubber mats you put beneath a rug to keep it from slipping would probably work to keep the quilt from sliding around on this faux leather chair. So far it is working quite well!
And this is the reason I needed a quilt to cover that chair. Cats! Good thing for them we love them. That's about all I have to say about it.
I just did a wavy line all over. I wanted something fairly dense since it will be sat upon quite a lot. The backing is flannel, so a heavier quilt when you take into consideration size, lots of 1 1/2 inch pieces, batting and backing. Hopefully it will hold up to the job!
This one is next in line. It is cut with the half hexagon die for the Go! Cutter. Very fast and easy to put together. I need to add borders, get the backing together and it quilted! I have had my eye on this new line of fabric at Connecting Threads for a while. When I saw they had the fat quarters on sale recently I got a set. You can read more about the fabrics here. It IS very nice to work with and seems to be high quality.
I cut another set of half hexies for my friend Sandy to make a quilt. Lots of pretty fabrics in here. I think she'll have fun with them!
And outside my favorite time of the year - Springtime in all its glory! There is such a sense of anticipation and hopefulness. Gardeners, it is said, are of necessity optimists and I know it's true. Every year we plan and we plant and we wait with hope. There is still a LOT to be done outside, but I am so thankful that I feel so much better this year and can actually work out there. God is good!
I hope there is plenty of hope where you are and lots pretty to see, too!

Beautiful quilt. I've done several Log Cabin ones but I've never done one like this. It gives me spring fever to look at your beautiful flowers. It's still chilly here and some things have put out like the daffodils but everything else is being held back.. and that may be a good thing. I'm so glad you're feeling better and can get out this year. Praying I can too. Love and Blessings.

What a beautiful Log Cabin. I have yet to make one but, its on my bucket list. Do you mind if I borrow your idea of the no-slip thingy ? We have a chair like that, it needs a pretty quilt cover. yes, I'll have to finish a quilt for it tho. Enjoyed your spring garden pics. Its still too cool here on the high desert for pretty things outside. Trees are budding, hope we don't have another freeze. Hugs !
I agree! Lovely quilts and so fun to see your Spring time photos. We still have snow on the ground, not lots, but some! I haven't noticed anything poking through yet. But soon, hopefully!

Ha -- I feel your cat pain Elaine. We just have fabric chairs and even with no claws, the kitters have managed to rub raw spots on the chairs, so my conclusion is that there's not a lot we can do about it. I love your great solution -- your new quilt is a beauty!
Great work! Boy do I understand about cats; it is a good thing I have lots of quilts (and don't mind washing them-the quilts that is).
